First Sacraments

Children who are in the second grade (at least seven years of age) or older are eligible to prepare for and celebrate First Reconciliation and First Eucharist. If you have questions about First Reconciliation and First Eucharist for your child, contact Kristen Raaen in the parish office.

First Reconciliation:
Every year, preparation for First Reconciliation begins in September at the start of the St. Tim's faith formation year. Children celebrate the sacrament two months later in November. Exact dates of meetings and services are sent out prior to the beginning of the faith formation season.

Requirements:

• If your child was not baptized at The Church of St. Timothy, a copy of his or her baptismal certificate is required.
• Enrollment in and good attendance of an approved St. Tim's religious education class (faith formation or At Home with Jesus program) is required. 
• A parent or guardian must attend the First Reconciliation kick-off meeting in September.
• Your child, along with a parent or guardian, must attend the parent-child preparatory meeting in November. 
• Prepare your child at home for First Reconciliation with materials provided by the parish.

Materials and Resources

• Our guide for learning will be the "Alive in Christ" used in Tuesday evening faith formation, or "A Family of Faith: the Sacraments" for students enrolled in "At Home at Jesus." Books will be supplemented with activities and discussions for students in both Tuesday evening faith formation and "At Home with Jesus."
• Kristen Raaen, the program coordinator, regularly offers updates and is available to offer support to parents as they prepare they children for the sacrament of reconciliation. 

 
First Eucharist:
First Eucharist preparation begins in January, and in the spring there are two weekends designated for our First Communion celebrations.
 

Requirements:

• Preparation for and celebration of First Reconciliation.
• Enrollment in and good attendance of an approved religious education class (faith formation or At Home with Jesus program). You may register for faith formation by obtaining a form from the parish office or by enrolling on our website.
• Regular attendance of Mass with a parent or guardian.
• A parent or guardian must attend the First Eucharist kick-off meeting.
• Your child, along with a parent or guardian, must attend the parent-child preparatory meeting.
• Sufficiently prepare your child at home for First Eucharist with materials provided by the parish.
