Grace, mercy, and peace to you!
1 Timothy 1:2
St. Timothy was an early follower of Jesus from Lystra, in modern-day Turkey. He travelled with St. Paul on his missionary journeys. Paul wrote two letters to Timothy which are part of the New Testament. St. Timothy is also considered coauthor of I and II Thessalonians, II Corinthians, Philippians, Colossians, and Philemon. He helped to found early Christian communities and served as the bishop of Ephesus. He was both imprisoned and martyred for his faith in Christ. St. Timothy is celebrated by the church, along with St. Titus, every year on January 26. As we seek to live out the Catholic faith, we are strengthened by the prayers of our parish patron and inspired by his courageous and committed service to the people of God.
An mahoganey sculpture of St. Timothy (pictured below) entitled "You've Got Mail" hangs in the alcove of the church. The sculpture was carved by Ron Felt, a local woodworker, and presented to our parish on May 5, 2021.
